Thunder Polini Zuma

Well here is my 2000 Zuma build with some pics and info on what I did. ;D First off I got the scooter from some friends at Red Streak Motors up in MA. for $500 . It was a steal and pretty clean with 600 miles on it. I brought it back to my shop at scootertronics and started getting into tearing it down. I pulled the engine out and the first thing was the cylinder kit. I then installed the Italkit CI.68.740.G. Aluminum cylinder kit w/single ring piston which Iported and polished my self .I do not recommend porting and polishing unless you know what you are doing . I then installed the polini carbon fiber reeds and a custom manifold I made myself and a Mikuni 24MM Carb with braided fuel lines and a motion pro cable. Then I rewired most of the scooter and added a Malossi no rev CDI and a bando coil. I covered all wires in plastic wire looms just to keep it all organized. Next was to do the exhaust system I decided to go with the best and used the Polini Race 3 exhaust. This all bolted right with no problem at all. Sounded great when I fired it up. So then it was time to get into the transmission. I used a Polini Variator , Drive face and fan with 6gm Doctor Pulley slider weights a Polini Generation 2 two shoe racing clutch a ZTR 1500 RPM Torque spring and a Polini Kelar belt . I also installed Polini final drive gears. Most of the trans install was very easy . I did however have to freeze clutch shaft to remove bearing and same to reinstall new shaft and bearing and I also had to press final drive gear on. But this was all very simple with the right tools. I installed an NCY kick start lever , NCY handle bar riser and a pair of ZBAR handle bars also an NCY throttle housing. I got rid of all lights and switches and installed racing kill switch set up. This scooter has raced this year and has proven to be a winner and has be reliable . It was raced hard from the beginning with ove 20 races with no problems. I do however change the weights and spring depending on track size I am racing. So that is my build. Minus a few small tricks and secrets for that winning edge Fuel catch can Also check out the more here Scooter Racing
